Concrete is one of the best base materials for a permanent basketball court installation because it’s strong, hard, long-lasting, and needs minimal maintenance. As base materials are concerned, a properly-poured concrete slab won’t degrade over time like you would expect to happen with asphalt. How many inches of concrete do I need for a basketball court?

You should be fine with a 4-inch concrete slab for your basketball court construction base. The concrete should be reinforced with ½-inch rebar for extra durability and to withstand any strain from normal ground movements due to rains, freezing, and thawing.

We’ve poured the slab for many basketball court constructions so we know the correct dimensions for a full-sized court, but you can choose any size of court you’d like!
